OASEN
OASEN is an exploratory project about the hotel lobby’s new function as a meeting place for networking, socializing or working. The project aims to create a spatial concept for a hotel lobby with a focus on varying atmospheres for a break from everyday life.
The concept consists of several rooms in the space created by furniture and curtains. Together with a playfulness in colors and shapes, these help to break away from everyday reality. Moods such as the quiet study, the social mingling and the fast pace interact, creates contrasts and great opportunities for all the hotel’s guests and visitors to meet their own needs. The changeability of the curtains allows visitors and guests to interact with the curtains and vary the spaces in the room according to their own needs, making the spatiality alive and to an ever-changing meeting place.
During the process, the work has consisted of floor plans, section drawings and model building to see all the different sight lines, rooms in the room and boundaries. Keywords such as futuristic, nostalgia, fantasy and escapism (an escape from reality in spatial form) have been the starting point for the concept and the feeling of spatiality. The expression of the theme can be seen in the design of the different tables, the bar and the reception. To best visualize the hotel lobby, a digital 3D model has been built. Rendered images have been taken to realize the project and show its connection to reality and how spatiality can be used.
