Stray depicts a personal journey through identity and belonging. Childhood photo albums and films raise questions about what the Swedish word “mellanförskap” – the middle ground between being included or excluded in a culture – can mean.
Could perceived rootlessness be a result of “mellanförskap”? What does it mean to be able to “pass” as something without being able to identify with it? To look for your home but not be able to find it?
