Materials in Tension

I’m interested in finding alternative ways in which materials can be joined together. In this project I aimed to gain a deeper understanding of the material relationship between textile and wood. By utilising mechanical tension, I wanted to explore the fabric’s potential as a structural component of a furniture. I aimed to develop a structured way of working that encourages a practical approach.

The goal was to use material-based research to find a functional way of implementing the keder cord together with fabric in a wooden sitting furniture. The focus was on the development of a method for the joining of fabric and wood, and the potential application of it in a user context.
