Sökandet efter identitet
The project aims to develop an identity as a future designer through a process of prototyping, accompanied by dialogue and reflection. The work strives to materialize ideas about sustainable design and clarify one’s role within the Swedish furniture industry.
The work can be divided into two phases: Materialization and Dialogue.
During the first phase, the focus was on creating prototypes based on a manifest with the constraint of being industrially feasible. The goal was not to create the ultimate product, but rather to use them as springboards for discussion.
This manifest, which I have divided into three pillars, addresses: the object’s relation to space – Invisible design, body and mind – The preconceived relationship between human and object, and the longevity of form.
After this phase, the Dialogue ensued. This period involved reflecting at various stages and initiating changes to the text. I was in a position to exchange ideas with peers, colleagues, and mentors. A field study involving designers and retailers provided answers to questions relevant to the theme. The evolution of the manifest occurred gradually, with four rewrites during this period. Each new version incorporated fresh insights and information.
