Under Pressure\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

The printing press has been instrumental in the distribution of culture by producing larger editions of images and texts, making it accessible and affordable for more people, thus democratizing creativity and knowledge. Although a lot has changed since Gutenberg\u2019s manual press and today there are faster and easier ways for printing; however, surely there is something nice about sometimes letting a work process take its time?<\/p>\n

This project emerged from a longing of being able to work with printmaking, the lack of a workshop with the right tools and a feeling of resignation in not knowing where to find the resources. It has been a way of exploring the balance between form and function; to discuss the concept of tools as something more than just means of creating. By carefully designing a printing press, I want to encourage presence in the work process, instill tranquility and pleasure in a time-consuming craft. I want to let the printing press exist as a work of art in itself.<\/p>\n
