Reconstructing (my) Cosmos
Hulda Sif Ásmundsdóttir mainly works with photographic projects related to her own reality; the experience of growing up as a woman in a male dominated society and the desire. to shed light on gender injustice. The position of women in modern society; young women in sports, teenage girls on social media, motherhood and mothers who face mental challenges.
Throughout her Masters’ education, Ásmundsdóttir has been working with her grandmothers’ photographic archive in order to understand and reframe her own past. Through the artistic process the archive has been divided into categories according to the artists interests and beliefs.
In the work Reconstructing (my) Cosmos Ásmundsdóttir creates images inspired by the portraits of her late grandfather and his caring gestures.
